Description
Dimensional Rifting Blade, Type "Samurai Spider"
---
A most vicious weapon in the right hands, it could be described as a Frankenstein's monster of a lightsaber, a chainsaw, a whip, silly string, and a zipper.
In the right - or rather evil - hands, a wielder could internally sever someone's spinal cord without a single drop of blood being shed.
Also handy as a defensive weapon, one being pursued can simply press the trigger and wave madly in front of them until the baddies "run into" the filament, at which point the user simply lets go of the trigger and the laws of physics take care of the rest.
Also features a multi-purpose blade for when the canister runs dry and needs reloading, an ambidextrous design, and an overload function for "those sticky situations."
---
No, this isn't in a game I'm making or anything like that, but I would love to see it in one and would buy it in a heartbeat, hence the category.
As far as I know, there is nothing quite close to this weapon design; any similarity or resemblance of any kind to any existing design is purely coincidental and unintentional.
This is part of a planned series of works where I am going to brainstorm various "original" sci-fi techs and release them to the world, free to use and alter as it sees fit. All I ask in return is simple credit for influencing a work; special thanks isn't too much to ask, is it?
I have so many ideas and not enough time to give them all a context in which to exist, and I'd rather give them away to the world than let them die with me.
